AllMusic Review by

French DJ connoisseur and New York upstart Neil Aline busts his infectious disco grooves on the fashionably cool Chez Music collection On the Rocks. This particular swirl of delectable dance hooks showcases some of Chez Music's classic tracks since their 1999 inception and a definitive selection from Aline's own musical tastes. Immediately, it struts into a party atmosphere and Fish Go Deep's "Let's Go Back" mixes thick disco house with the soulful vocals of Rebecca Meagher. Sultry Latin tinges fused over hard-hitting percussion in Bibi's "Summer" builds momentum on the dancefloor, leading into more tribal beats and deep house cuts for BOC Productions' "Fall in Love." "It's Yours," a 2001 Winter Music Conference favorite, is On the Rocks' swan song. Jon Cutler's collaboration with E-Man sparks a dazzling acid house cut, sparkling with tripping breakbeats. On the Rocks matches the excitement of Jumpin' Jack Frost's Fine Tuning, Vol. 1, and it's a fashionable effort. Nothing is overhyped or over-tweaked, and for electronic music, such intricacy is welcomed.
