Roger Bellow's On the Road to Pros is a simple, straightforward traditional country record, mixing elements of bluegrass with honky tonk. When he delves into honky tonk, he keeps close harmonies and mandolins close by; on the folkier bluegrass material, he plays it hard, adding steel guitars into the mix. Furthermore, Bellow's voice is warm and smoky, making the music a sweetly sentimental celebration of country heritage.
