AllMusic Review by

Originally broadcast as part of the Jubilee radio program, On Jubilee: 1946-1947 brings together several live performances by the Gerald Wilson Orchestra. An influential California-based bandleader, Wilson made forward-thinking, bop-influenced West Coast jazz. Here, we get two performances: the first from Hollywood in April of 1946 and the second from Pasadena's McCormack General Hospital in May of 1947. Featured in Wilson's band are such luminaries as Mabel Scott, Snooky Young, Willie Smith, Red Kelly, Charles Thompson, and others. Also featured is one track with vocalist Mel Tormé.
