Simply put, this German band creates some of the most original and tasty Celtic-rock outside of the U.K. and Ireland. The self-described "Irish Independent Speedfolk" clan isn't afraid to mix it up either. At times they conjure up elements of the olde English ska band the Specials as well as the wacky Tex-Mex-Polka band Brave Combo. But whether they journey into the beat-crazy world of ska, add a dash of polka, or offer up innovative takes of "Ye Jacobites by Name," "Matty Groves," or "Star of the County Down," you can count on fiddler Tobi Schafer and accordionist Stefan Klug to lead the charge. Their contagious blend of alternative rock and traditional Irish playing is subtly peppered with German and other worldly influences, and the results are truly delectable.
