George Shearing's second Concord album, a set of duets with bassist Brian Torff like the previous Blues Alley Jazz, is the equal of the first. The close communication between the duo, and their ability to think fast and react to each other immediately, makes it possible for them to uplift such songs as "Love for Sale," "On a Clear Day," "Lullaby of Birdland" and even "Happy Days Are Here Again." Brilliant music.
