Better known for being the first official house record pressed on vinyl than for its musical contents, "On & On" isn't much more than skeletal Roland 808 rhythms looped and overlapped with some misguided vocals to boot. If not for its hallowed status as being "the first," this Jesse Saunders production would be long forgotten, much like his other productions like "Funk You Up." Even so, it's a curious listen, as it sounds incredibly bare and lifeless to contemporary ears yet probably sounded revolutionary and exuberant during its own epoch. The flip side consists of several rhythm tracks that further present the then-novel wonders of drum machine programming. Again, "On & On a curious listen for sure.
