AllMusic Review by

Imported from England, this LP features Woody Herman's Third Herd heard live in 1954. By then, the big-band era had been gone for almost a decade, but somehow Herman was able to buck the trend, playing swinging music with a young group of musicians willing to constantly travel. On this set, half of the repertoire was fairly new, giving such players as trumpeter Dick Collins and tenors Jerry Coker and Bill Perkins some inspiring material to solo over. A good example of The Third Herd.
