This out-of-print two-Lp set has all of the music from pianist-vocalist Mose Allison's fourth and sixth Prestige albums: the lesser-known Ramblin' with Mose (which has not yet been reissued on CD) and Autumn Song (which has). In both cases Allison emphasizes his piano playing in a trio with bassist Addison Farmer and drummer Ronnie Free. The former date only has one vocal ("I Got a Right to Cry") while the latter has three ("That's All Right," "Do Nothin' Till You Hear from Me" and "Eyesight to the Blind"). Allison has referred to these recordings as being from his "Lester Young period" and his piano playing does display strong aspects of his training in the bop and modern swing world along with the influence of country blues. The music may not be essential but it does include more than its share of interesting obscurities.
