O Peyi is another release from one of Kassav's many talented vocalists, Jean-Philippe Marthely. His albums have their own flavor that leans towards cadence, Haitian influences, and zouk with an edge rather than zouk love. His voice has a unique Antillean clarity and smoothness that can also gather force and steam when called for. He brings back traditional Martinique music, chouval bwa, on "Legorine." The zouk tracks are for the most part solid zouk, if at times somewhat uninspiring. There are a few tracks that breath some fire, notably "Bourik La" and "Pa Demissione." A decent album, but there are better albums from this talented vocalist.
