Academic electro for those with substantial Basic Channel collections, 1999's Nursing Kit was one in a long list of projects by Frankfurt, Germany-based Dr. Scissors (Cracked, Mobile Space Unit, Syrinx 2600, Insect Jazz). Regrettably, amidst the crisp, crunchy production and robotic hi-hats, this early release under his most important stage name felt lost and leaden, coming across as an unsatisfying substitute for either Distinctive Breaks' tightly controlled compilations or the partied-up spectacle of the scene's Mantronix/Afrika Bambaataa booming years. With Dr. Scissors apparently preferring prolificacy over everything else, this was an uninspired work, characterless electro with a below-average sense of doubled-over breakbeats.
