AllMusic Review by

Brooks Williams' debut album, North from Statesboro, falls halfway between the mellow folk-pop of James Taylor and the relaxed, respectful folk-blues of such contemporaries as Rory Block. Williams devotes his album to original songs, including instrumentals and musical adaptations of Robert Frost poems ("Acquainted with the Night"). Occasionally, he gets a little too wordy for his own good, but that doesn't prevent North from Statesboro from being an engaging collection of quietly lovely folk-blues.
