AllMusic Review by

The 1950 version of Norman Granz's traveling jam session JATP is featured on this LP, one of ten released by Polygram Classics in 1983. Four fairly basic chord changes ("Norgran Blues," "Lady Be Good," "Ghost of a Chance" and "Indiana") are explored by the all-star lineup (trumpeter Harry "Sweets" Edison, trombonist Bill Harris, the tenors of Flip Phillips and Lester Young, pianist Hank Jones, bassist Ray Brown and drummer Buddy Rich). Due to the absence of JATP regular trumpeter Roy Eldridge, there are less fireworks than usual but the music is still quite enjoyable with Young in fine form and Phillips pleasing the enthusiastic audience.
