This is great way to get hip to all the great end-o-millennium music coming out of Scandinavia. The 20 tracks running in length from two-plus to six-plus minutes get right to the heart of a healthy traditional music scene as well as modern compositions. This is a wide spectrum of eclectic voices and instrumentation covering all of NorthSide's artists. This material is as good as and goes beyond the Riverdance rave. These are unadorned, brazen, frolic-in-the-tundra tunes, alive with centuries of history and inspiration from fjord to frigid highlands. Listeners are treated to the majestic magic vocals of Garmana, the fiery fiddle of Hege Rimestad, the ribald Horslip-ian folk-rock/world fusion of Hoven Droven, and many more. You can feel the hearty warmth in the "Arctic Circle club" style of music. "Come on in, the water's just above freezing but what a rush!" An enjoyable and recommended sampler.
