AllMusic Review by Dean Carlson

Conceivably in an attempt to follow in the footsteps of Massive Attack's No Protection, Rae & Christian handed over a substandard sophomore release for a seventh-inning remix save. As far as the new names were concerned (Faze Action, Groove Armada, Truant, Nextmen), Nocturnal Activity should have been in fairly safe territory, but the new interpretations were as stifled as the originals, stuck with trying to inject a sense of slight disorder into songs that desperately suffered too deeply to ever be rescued. At the time of its release, the kind acoustic reading of the Bobby Womack collaboration "Get a Life" offered the only defense for the band's future.
