The domra is a Russian folk lute. Alto and soprano versions of this instrument, along with an accordion and a big bass balalaika, form the Terem Quartet instrumentation. These classically-trained musicians exhibit masterful technique at their tools. The sounds they make seem to arise from an ensemble much greater than a quartet. Subtle, inventive, and gifted with a sense of humor, their gypsy turns thrill and enthrall. This album focuses on classic dance forms like the tango, waltz, and Charleston.
