AllMusic Review by

Formed at its members' North Carolina grade school in the early 1970s, Little Diesel was the band that nurtured the teen talents of those future stalwarts of the 1980s alternative rock scene Chris Stamey, Peter Holsapple, and Will Rigby. Recorded on a primitive four-track reel-to-reel tape recorder, this mix of chaotic instrumentals, embryonic glam rock, and punky covers, including Robert Parker's "Barefootin'," the Electric Prunes' "I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night," and Status Quo's "Pictures of Matchstick Men," is the very definition of garage rock.
