From Hank Williams Jr.'s Monday Night Football theme to the ESPN JOCK JAMS series of recordings, the worlds of music and sports have always been inextricably (and occasionally inexplicably) linked. That tradition is taken to the inevitable next level on NFL country, where two uniquely American industries collide: football and country music. Unlike the aforementioned JOCK JAMS albums, this isn't a collection of fist-pumpers heard at sporting arenas. Rather, it features actual collaborations between some of the hottest '90s country singer and their NFL contemporaries. On the face of it, this idea might seem strange, but Michael Strahan fits in surprisingly well with Randy Travis on the easy, loping "Brinks Truck," and in retrospect, a duet between Neal McCoy and Coach Joe Avezzano ("Big Doggin' Around") makes a funny kind of sense.
