New Yorker Presents Out Loud is a double-disc set that presents six authors -- Martin Amis, John Updike, Ian McEwan, Jeffrey Eugenides, Seamus Deane and Lorrie Moore -- reading short stories that were originally published in the magazine. Each disc contains three stories, which range from comedy to drama and hit ever point in between. Books on tape are never quite as enthralling as the actual printed word, but this is the rare occasion where the recorded work is quite compelling in its own right, as well.
