AllMusic Review by

Yoko Ono fans and others might be very surprised by this disc. In 1994, Ono put together a musical that wound up off-Broadway. This is the original cast recording. She strung some old songs together and added some new ones to cleverly tell a thinly disguised autobiography of her life with John Lennon. Does it work? Yes, surprisingly well. The songs complement each other, and the arrangements are both moving and original. The more familiar Ono tracks (such as "Midsummer New York" from Sometime in New York City and "No, No, No" from Season of Glass) don't deviate too much from the original arrangements, but what is different is that the songs are more "presentable" to the casual ear. For those who do not like Ono's voice, this is an excellent way to sample her brilliant writing. Ono fans will find it interesting to hear straight cover versions of an artist who is not often covered. While not as earth-shattering and trend-setting as her classic albums, this is an enjoyable listen. It is also an excellent sampling of her body of work. What becomes very obvious when listening is that the songs have absolutely beautiful tunes that are extremely moving, and that Ono is a very talented artist who deserves a great deal more respect than she is often afforded. This is brilliant work.
