Humble Sacrifice's song "Summertime, the Way I Recall" sounds a lot like the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Under the Bridge," yet it doesn't sound derivative. For one thing, it features the band's signature processed flute. For another, it comes by its nostalgic lyrics too honestly to be mere imitation. Other tracks are funky, like the Chili Peppers', but lighter in the metal department. It's a welcome mellowness. Humble Sacrifice knows how to lay down a groove, and they're pretty good at the follow-up, too. There are three vocalists on the disc: Brian Gorby, Mat Heusel, and Brianna Litman, used in various combinations. The vocalists are backed not only by the standard rock combo, but also by Wurlitzer organ and that cool flute.
