This a reissue of a reissue that first saw the light of day as a multi-volume vinyl series on the homegrown Moulty label. This release sweats that series down to a 30-track selection, chock-full of '60s local talent -- the tracks offer Farfisa organs, 12-string guitars, fuzz-tones, and loads of straining, teen-vocal angst and energy in place of actual talent in most cases. This is the sound of teen bands making their first (and usually, only) record in the cut-it-quick-and-fast recording conditions of the time. The sheer amateur quality is, of course, the entire charm of a compilation like this which nails the teen sound of the '60s better than most hit-laden collections. There are no big names aboard, but the set is a slice of true, hometown rock & roll for sure.
