A superior jazz singer with a very appealing voice, Tina May has long been one of the top vocalists from Great Britain. She also shows, on four of the ten songs on this CD, that she is a skilled lyricist, too. Joined by the David Newton trio and tenor saxophonist Don Weller, May comes up with fresh interpretations of "Lazy Afternoon," Tony Williams' "Sister Cheryl," "Never Let Me Go," and "Caravan," plus a few newer songs. Tina May's improvising is subtle but creative and she deserves much greater recognition in the United States for her talents.
