Neurotitan is number seven in a ten-piece series of 3" CDs documenting the work of the German experimental electronica outfit Thilges 3. Recorded at the Neurotitan Shop in Berlin, December 2000, it features a single 21-minute track, obviously excerpted from a longer performance. The music was generated by Doepfer A-100 and Moog Prodigy analog synthesizers. A steady flapping (like helicopter propellers) provides the backbone. A sub-bass pulse, hesitating static, and echoing sounds weave a texture that surrounds you. Near the end things begin to move around and change, leading to a somewhat noisier section. The abrupt cut is too brutal a return to reality. This is laptop experimentalism without a computer.
