In the wake of the phenomenal success of 'N Sync and the Backstreet Boys comes the eponymous debut album from the Irish group Mytown. Like the other boy band releases this album consists of upbeat dance numbers and slow ballads. Unfortunately there are very few well-crafted pop songs and the result is an album that has few catchy hooks or phrases. However, the group does sing slightly more risqué lyrics than their American counterparts. The songs "Body Bumpin'," which is about a girl who "said she was 18," and "Girl in Tears," which asks the question "how do you make love to a girl in tears," provide some rather amusing listening. Otherwise Mytown's debut album is a rather weak attempt to capitalize on the boy band frenzy.
