His music could be described as what the Backstreet Boys might sound like if they had a little more soul, but angel-faced showman Usher pulls off his brand of glamorous, dance-oriented crooning with aplomb. This high-energy live set--which includes more overwhelming sonic waves of screaming girls and performer/audience call and response segments than any live album in recent memory--is a perfect showcase for Usher's crowd-pleasing pop. His program veers from slick, funk-inflected dance numbers ("Think of You," "Rock Wit'cha") to sugary romantic confections (many of which are performed in a medley that acts as the concert's centerpiece and includes Babyface's "Roni" and "Bedtime").
The set closes with a slinky version of "You Make Me Wanna...," complete with Usher's soulful wailing and lush support from backup vocalists. Fans will squeal with delight to find three additional remixes added as bonus tracks. The remix treatments of "My Way," "Nice & Slow," and "You Make Me Wanna...," with their overlapping polyrhythms and intersecting vocal lines, are among the most compelling and sonically interesting work on the disc.
