My Heart Will Go On Review

by Jose F. Promis

In the U.S. "My Heart Will Go On" was released as a single for a limited time, allowing it only a short two-week run at the top of the charts, when, in actuality, the song was a much bigger hit. In Europe the single was released with dance mixes, which eventually crossed the Atlantic to reach American shores and kept gringo club goers shimmying to the shimmering ballad-turned-disco track through the spring of 1998. This import includes the album version (as featured on Let's Talk About Love, because the version featured on the Titanic soundtrack was different), as well as three similar, single-length and straightforward dance mixes, which, unlike may other diva ballads-turned-dance hits of the 1990s, work surprisingly well. All three dance versions feature the same vocals and more or less the same structure, with accompanying hi-NRG circuit party beats. The second dance mix utilizes piano and the third has bells, but they're pretty similar overall, despite the different producers at the helm. So for those looking for the non-domestically released dance mixes of "My Heart Will Go On," this is the single to buy.
