AllMusic Review by

Probably the most successful vocal group during the rocksteady years, the Paragons scored with such classics as "The Tide Is High," "My Best Girl," and "On the Beach." These and many other quality tracks are included on this Trojan roundup of some of the band's best work for producer Duke Reid. Complimenting their earlier sides for Clement Dodd, the Paragons hit their peak at Treasure Isle Studios under Reid. Featuring future reggae star John Holt, the group blended American soul with some of the island's burgeoning roots sounds to forge one of the most unique vocal harmony styles of the rocksteady and reggae years. Also spotlighting the fine work of Reid's house band of the time, Tommy McCook and the Supersonics, this Paragon's collection will certainly do the trick for first-disc seeking fans.
