The theory here would seem to be that, since My Girl 2 is a children's picture, parents will take their kids. Those parents will be late baby boomers who like "classic rock," so, to make the movie tolerable to them, why not fill the soundtrack with familiar AOR fare? (The same idea occurred to makers of the 1994 Lassie, by the way.) So, here we have a classic rock sampler with all the usual suspects, from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young to the Steve Miller Band. Apparently, the makers couldn't get the rights to The Left Banke's "Walk Away Renee," however, since there's a remake instead.
