Rock n’ Roll Hits Review

by Steve Leggett

This three-disc set (ten songs per disc -- it could easily have been a double disc or even a single disc with a little editing) plays like an oldies radio station specializing in 1960s and 1970s AM pop hits. There aren’t any surprises, but everything here, including varied sides like the Miracles' “Tears of a Clown” and “Tracks of My Tears,” Lloyd Price's “Stagger Lee,” Ben E. King's “Spanish Harlem,” the Fortunes' “Build Me Up Buttercup,” the Association's “Windy,” and Billy Paul's “Me & Mrs. Jones,” is a classic of one sort or another.
