Fabrizio De André did not record very often after the early '80s, so every new album and tour was a major event. This live album and video documents the tour for Anime Salve, the last album De André would release, and it appeared a few months after the songwriter's untimely death to lung cancer. But for the dubious commercial opportunism of its timing, this record is unimpeachable. A notorious perfectionist, De André would only work with the best, and once again his supporting band is outstanding, both on the early classics and the more ambitious world music-oriented new compositions. Highlights include an extended segment of his concept album masterpiece La Buona Novella, and a beautiful duet with the singer's daughter Luvi on the traditional "Geordie." A second volume taken from the same concert appeared on 2001.
