Music of the Roof of the World

This is a fine introduction to the music of Nepal. Of course, there is some chanting, like the Gyoto Monks, but there are also other vocal traditions represented, as well as some beautiful instrumental works. The tracks are all relatively short, and the differing styles and traditions can make for a slightly jarring listen, which gears the album toward a more ethnographic sensibility than a pure musical one.
