Tim Burton has been making movies since the early 1980s, so it is fitting that he is the subject of a tribute CD that commemorates some of the darkest and most humorous moments of his film career. This collection includes excerpts from Burton’s most memorable films, including BATMAN, MARS ATTACKS!, SLEEPY HOLLOW, and THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. The City of Prague Philharmonic does an admirable job of recreating these highlights. Rather than mimic the organic creepiness that became composer Danny Elfman’s trademark, the orchestra cuts through each montage with chilling precision, and makes these familiar, twisted themes even more eerie.
