Though it's branded as a production of the iconic video and entertainment network, MTV Sugar N Spice is actually a generic karaoke disc. Its dual program features remakes of Top 40 fair, followed by the same songs sans vocals, to aid in the at-home singalong fun. MTV Sugar N Spice is probably serviceable in this latter capacity, as its backing tracks are what you'd hear inside any chintzy karaoke club. But it's the album's remakes that sink it. Versions of Pink's "Get the Party Started" and Michelle Branch's "Everywhere" are tepid and thin -- there's absolutely no reason why anyone should pay money for a disc that literally sounds like your drunk friends singing at the bar. Avoid this at all costs. At least in real life, your friends will buy you drinks.
