AllMusic Review by

In most circles, a compilation series demanding no more than a couple of bucks per shot -- a double-disc shot, no less -- might as well wear a sign that reads, "Bargain Bin Novelty Trash." But this is Moving Shadow, so listeners once again return to the record bag of Rob Playford for some cerebral cuts of some of the more interesting drum'n'bass tunes around. The first disc is a high-energy staccato of dirty beats and nodding grooves that make you sing along in a very "do do doo-doo-doo" sort of way, propelled by class acts like Kudos' Capone-indebted "Boiling Point," 60 Minute Man's scathing "Brand Nu Day," and even some deep porn by AK1200 & Danny Breaks. The second disc -- a short exposé on Omni Trio's material -- is considerably less so. All the same, for this sticker price you'd have to be terrified of a breakbeat not to enjoy getting smashed on most anything Playford sneaks into the keg. Cheers.
