Movie Classics, Vol. 2 [Time Life]

Time Life's ongoing series of film music collections continues with this volume, which includes classical pieces appropriated by films as well as pieces from scores composed for films. Nino Rota's "Godfather Waltz" and John Barry's "Out of Africa (Main Theme)" are two of the standout score excerpts, while "Symphony No. 5 in C Minor: I. Allegro Con Brio" and Strauss' "Also Sprach Zarathustra (Opening Fanfare)" -- which were featured in Immortal Beloved and 2001: A Space Odyssey, respectively -- are two of the best-known classical pieces here. However, nearly everything on Movie Classics, Vol. 2 will be familiar to most fans of soundtracks and classical music, making this an enjoyable collection for them.
