Guitarist Barry Coates' music is melodic, lightly funky, and open to the influences of both jazz and pop. On this CD, Coates is joined by a variety of Los Angeles studio players, including Bob Sheppard on tenor and soprano, keyboardist Rich Eames, and a couple different rhythm sections. He performs eight originals on this set, none of which are overly memorable but all of which are reasonably enjoyable. Pleasant if obscure music.
