The tracks on Volume Three of Motor City Memories are even more obscure than ones on the previous two. Here you meet early Detroit groups like the Royal Jokers, Five Emeralds, the Fresandos, the Flints, the Five Scalders, and others. Ty Hunter, leading the Voice Masters, puts his quivering falsetto to good use on "Everytime," which still sounds good. Ty later sang solo for Chess, and with the Glass House, before replacing C.P. Spencer in the Originals. Some of the songs are downright corny, like "Going to the Hop" by the Satintones; one listen and it's easy to see why it failed to chart. For serious collectors only.
