The four volumes of Disky's More Maximum '80s series are spent compiling 12" mixes of dancefloor-oriented pop singles, from new wave to Italo disco to hip-hop to sophisti-pop. While each U.K.-centric disc has its share of material that is best left in the decade of origin, they are perfectly tailored for DJs and '80s aficionados alike. Highlights of the second volume include Giorgio Moroder and Phil Oakey's "Together in Electric Dreams," Soul II Soul's "Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)," Moti Special's "Don't Be So Shy," Laid Back's "Sunshine Reggae," and Climie Fisher's "Life's What You Make It." These discs are a nice alternative to the average '80s-based series, but they're definitely not for everyone.
