If you're looking for attention-getting but pleasant-natured takes on pop/jazz standards, this is a great place to start. Augustine's piano work avoids many of the lounge-lizard cliches in favor of a lyrical style that pulls captivating structures from the music. A bonus here is Matt Ferraro's excellent sax work, which integrates perfectly into the arrangements. Add drummer Tom Ruggieri and bassist Tim Powell to the mix, and the result is nigh unto perfect. Lounge music with serious soul.
