Montreal Moonlight Meditation was released in 2001 through MP3.com. This 30-minute CD presents a marginally interesting radio session from sitar player Rahul Sakyaputra recorded in 1972 at the Loyola Chapel in Montreal. There is only about 15 minutes of music split between parts two and eight. Everything else is radio host chat and questions and answers with the audience (not particularly informative since the musician's heavy Indian accent is difficult to follow). The raga performed in part two is the focal point of this CD. Very laid-back, it is performed by Sakyaputra with a tabla player and a pianist with a classical/jazz background. It includes a dimension of free improvisation and makes for a very interesting listen, even though sound quality is far from perfect. The other piece performed is a conga/tabla duet of limited appeal. Because of its short duration, archival quality, and low music content, this CD is for the die-hard fan only.
