Part of the voluminous Mondo series of world music collections, Mondo Africa features some of the Dark Continent's more recognized performers. Like other volumes in the Mondo series, the emphasis here is just as much on diversity as it is on quality. Though there are only 12 songs, they are from a variety of performers from different parts of Africa who, consequently, offer differing styles of music. It's most interesting to map out the similarities and differences between these artists and their respective contributions. Furthermore, this collection makes for a nice, handy one-stop sampler of African music for anyone looking for a convenient introduction.
