Madacy's Highway Rock series throws together ten loosely related tunes, slaps a cheesy photo on the cover, and hopes for the best. Luckily most of the songs they chose are high-quality '70s and '80s rock and pop, so if you are in the market for a disc to keep the natives from getting too restless for about half an hour of a road trip, you might try to scare up an entry at your local used CD emporium or friendly neighborhood truck stop. Missing You is one of the stronger volumes in the series, creating a palpable mood of melancholy and romantic longing while culling some all-time classics like Al Green's "Call Me," Paul Young's "Every Time You Go Away," Bonnie Tyler's "It's a Heartache," and John Waite's "Missing You" in the process. Throw in excellent songs like Tavares' "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel, Pt. 1," the J. Geils Band's "Come Back," and Dan Hartman's "I Can Dream About You" and you have a collection whose only downfall is its brevity.
