Cal Collins' recording debut (performed over three years before he started making records for Concord) was actually not released until 1984. This live set (cut in Cincinnati) features Collins in a trio with Kenny Poole on "Epiphone Guitar" (which sounds like a bass) and drummer Terry Moore. The musicians stretch out on five selections on this LP including a couple of swing-era standards ("I'm Through Wwith Love" and "Hand Me Down My Walking Cane"), "My Favorite Things" and "Milestones." Collins already had his style down at this early stage, making this out-of-print album of interest to straightahead jazz guitar collectors.
