AllMusic Review by

Another one of the Collectables label's ten-track insta-compilations, Midnight Train to Georgia is skimpy and certainly not the first -- or even tenth -- place to go for a handy one-disc introduction to Gladys Knight & the Pips, but it is at least narrowly focused, pulling each one of its selections from the 1973-1975 phase of the group. However, it nonetheless neglects several big hits, such as "Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)," "The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me," "I Feel a Song (In My Heart)," and "I've Got to Use My Imagination" -- and that only accounts for the omissions that peaked at the very top of the R&B singles chart.
