Nobody could make a case for Midnight Soul: Late Night Love containing music that's anything less than stunning. However, condensing the Commodores, the Whispers, the Delfonics, the O'Jays, Maze, and Earth, Wind & Fire onto one disc does everyone a disservice. Only the most casual of casual soul fans will be fulfilled by this compilation, which looks more like an on-the-go play list put together by someone whose goal is to seduce. This disc is a handy aid, sure enough, but anyone who picks it up and opts to not dig deeper with any of the groups is starving himself/herself.
