AllMusic Review by

Like its successor Collection: Volume 2, Soundtracks serves as a good introduction to songwriter Michael McLean's work. However, no effort was made to improve upon the original production of the songs, so some of the tracks lack the polish found on later releases. All 12 tracks are gleaned from films that McLean wrote, produced, or directed for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints: Our Heavenly Father's Plan Together Forever, The Prodigal Son, Labor of Love, and What is Real? Therefore all of them touch on spiritual topics such as the purpose of life, true friendship, and prayer. While not entirely original, the album is highly listenable and is definitely uplifting. In short, a nice addition to the Sabbath Day music collection.
