Traditional jazz fans will want to pick up this Italian import LP for it contains music unavailable elsewhere. Clarinetist Mezz Mezzrow is heard on four blues from 1959 (which were possibly his final recordings) with a spirited septet. The flip side has the great swing trumepter Buck Clayton performing one standard apiece with three different groups; such sidemen as trombonist Vic Dickenson, clarinetist Pee Wee Russell, the tenors of Bud Freeman, Benny Waters and Alix Combelle, pianists Joe Turner and Hank Jones and organist Jean-Claude Pelletier are among the supporting cast. It's an enjoyable set of live recordings.
