What the packaging of Metal Thunder fails to tell the potential buyer is that several of the inclusions are cover versions. Most fans of these groups will recognize that fact, but those who are unfamiliar could be suckered into thinking that this is a good starter-kit for hard rock and heavy metal of the late '80s and early '90s. This is definitely not the case. And few who are familiar with these groups are interested in hearing some of the covers -- from Great White's "No Quarter" (Led Zeppelin) to Jake E. Lee's "Get Down Make Love" (Queen) to Neil Murray's "La Grange" -- let alone several others alongside minor and significant hits. Like a lot of compilations released by St. Clair, the track selection seems to have been made by an indiscriminate computer program.
