Jonathan Butler's first holiday release, Merry Christmas to You, coincided with touring as part of Dave Koz & Friends' Christmas Tour. For the most part, Butler reinterprets classics such as "Little Drummer Boy," "I'll Be Home for Christmas," and Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas." The best material is the most intimate -- just Butler with his guitar and little in the way of ornamentation. There are two Butler originals here: the tranquil title track and the equally open-hearted "Happy Holidays."
