If you've ever wondered why certain doo-wop records go for exorbitant prices nowadays, it can all be traced back to a small record shop on Times Square that advertised on a local New York radio show. This is part of a five-volume series bringing together some of those wonderful rarities that exchanged hands with ravenous collectors back then, and if you're looking for radio-friendly '50s hits in this package, you came to the wrong address. But if the real thing is what you're after, off-the-beaten-track favorites like "God Only Knows" by the Capris and "Zoom Zoom Zoom" by the Collegians will fill the bill nicely. Great notes by Jerry Greene put the story squarely in perspective, making this one of the nicest sets in the Collectables catalog.
